Environmentally friendly Little Takas disposable nappies

New Mum and swimming great Elka Whalan is ambassador for Little Takas nappy range

New mum and Australian swimming great Elka Whalan (nee Graham), is set to launch the environmentally friendly Little Takas disposable nappy range in Australia. At 90 per cent biodegradable, and made from viscose and corn based fibre, the Little Takas range will finally offer Australian parents a convenient and environmentally friendly option.

“While I’ve always been concerned for the environment, with the birth of my daughter Nevada, I’ve made a conscious effort to do what I can to contribute to a more sustainable environment for her future,” explains Elka.

“In preparing for her arrival, I was alarmed to read that regular disposable nappies take more than 100 years to decompose. And with newborns going through 6 – 8 nappies each day, the environmental impact is enormous. In fact 1 billion nappies end up in land fill each year in Australia.

“Initially I looked into cloth nappies as a green alternative but when you consider the energy and water required to wash the nappies, the environmental benefits seemed minimal. Then I discovered Little Takas. The all natural fibres are so soft against Nevada’s skin, are super absorbent and highly breathable. They are good for Nevada and good for the environment”.

“We are delighted Elka is the face of Little Takas,” EcoQuest Chairman Mrs Sylvia Tulloch commented. “Elka is a natural fit for Little Takas. Not only is she one of Australia’s brightest swimming stars, she has a strong commitment to the environment and as a new mum is equally committed to a better world for her daughter.”
In addition to writing regular blogs on motherhood and representing the company at launch events, Mrs Whalan will host a monthly video diary featuring her baby daughter Nevada on the Little Takas website www.littletakas.com.
