New Parenting Tips

Cleaning baby's ears
I have been told never to put anything in my baby's ears - even to clean them. I've discovered that the best way to clean around the outside of the earhole is with a baby wipe - it gets rid of all the wax but is gentle enough to use without upsetting baby.

Easy shopping 24/7!
I have really caught on to online shopping especially for kids gifts. Now I buy many of our family gifts online. I have signed up to newsletters from my favourite sites so I receive special deals, and I try to buy more than one item at a time to save on postage. I often pay a fraction of the shop price and there's a larger range to choose from, and I don't have to cart my kids around shopping all day, I can do it when they're asleep at any time of day or night. Postage charges are usually nominal and far outweigh the convenience!

Discussion Issue

Do you think 8 weeks is too early to find out a baby's gender?
Many parents have the opportunity to find out their baby's gender at the 20 week scan. However, new products have been introduced recently to tell a baby's gender as early as 8 weeks, causing concern that this may increase the number of abortions.

Do you think that finding out as early as 8 weeks is a good idea or a not? If you had the opportunity to find out this early, would you? Do you agree that this could cause an increase in abortion rates?

My mother drew a distinction
between achievement and success.
She said that "achievement is the
knowledge that you have studied
and worked hard and done the best
that is in you. Success is being
praised by others, and that's nice, too,
but not as important or satisfying.
Always aim for achievement
and forgot about success".
