Saying No - how to get better at it!
I had an extremely busy last few months and I had to use all the skills in my time management toolbox to make sure I met all of my important commitments. I struggled with this and after thinking hard about it I realised I had a lot of trouble saying no.
So why do we over-commit ourselves and how can we avoid it?... read more
Geoff Jansz shares his tips on how he gets his kids to eat healthy lunches
In my work as a chef, I am an advocate of fresh healthy food. In my life as a dad, I am the same. Any parent knows how difficult it can be to get your children to eat, never mind eat healthily. It can take hours of coaxing and bribing to get the plate cleared. The dilemma becomes even worse once your children get to school age. You can put healthy food in their lunchbox, but you can't be there to ensure they eat it... read more

In recent years, the introduction of some amazing new communication technologies has dramatically changed the way we communicate with our loved ones. Swinburne researchers are looking for parents of children aged five years and under to complete a short online questionnaire... read more

Let your kids experience aeroplanes - for free!
We took our toddlers to watch the planes take off and land near the Tullamarine airport. It was a fun and educational outing that cost us nothing and the kids just loved it!

Feed your kids something healthy before going out
to
eat
If you're heading out to eat with friends and you know your baby or toddler is a fussy eater or easily gets distracted, give them something healthy to eat either before leaving or in the car. Then if they refuse to eat the food there or they only seem to want to eat the less healthy options you know that they've had something healthy before hand so it doesn't matter as much.
