One Mum's Story

Jacki's Story
Jacki's life changed forever at her 28 week antenatal appointment. When checking the baby's heartbeat, her midwife also picked up Jacki's heartbeat, but they were only one heartbeat different - 86 and 87. Having done all the right things during her pregnancy, Jacki was shocked to be told they wanted to perform a caesar that day as her baby had a clogged artery in her heart. However, tragically, things were about to get much worse... read more

New Parenting Tips

Recycle your calendar pictures
I laminated some great photos from my 2008 calendar to use as inexpensive playdough mats, drawing mats, placemats etc. I made them A3 but A4 would also be useful. I have my own laminator but it only costs a few dollars to have them laminated at an office shop.

How to get corn flour in the creases - easily!
My midwife told me to put cornflour in my baby's skin creases to keep them dry and avoid infection. I was finding this really awkward until I discovered that putting my baby on her tummy makes it much easier to reach most of the main spots - under her arms, behind her knees and now that she can hold her head up for a short while, under her chin (carefully so as not to get cornflour in her face). Putting cornflour under her chin also takes the redness out of her dribble rash.
