New Parenting Tips

Newborn baby doesn't fit into nappies yet?
When my son was a newborn he would constantly wake from urine seeping out the top of his nappy because he was too small for the newborn nappies. I used to put a clean flannel folded in half around his waist then his PJs over the top. When he woke, rather than having to change his whole outfit, I would change his nappy and just whip the wet flannel out and replace it with a new one! Much quicker and less washing for the next day. Plus, you can pick up a bulk pack of flannels cheap at your local supermarket!

Satisfy your toddler's need to take all the nappies and wipes!
Our two year old is constantly taking the disposable nappies and wipes to use on her dolls. I don't mind that she wants to play with them but they are expensive. I finally worked out to buy her a cheap packet of wipes which are her "special wipes" and she much prefers to use them for the dolls now. I happened to mention this to a friend and she said she did the same thing with nappies - she bought a cheap packet of newborn nappies for her toddler to play with and they fit much better on the dolls anyway!

Discussion Issue

Do you agree with using a safety harness whilst walking with your toddler?
Sometimes parents' hands are full with a stroller, a trolley or shopping bags so a harness can be a safe and practical solution. There are soft toy backpack harnesses now available which are fun for kids and relatively discreet. However, not everyone believes harnesses are appropriate.

We would all do anything to keep our kids safe but is a harness the best solution? If not, what other solutions are there? Do you use a harness for your toddler? Do you find it effective?
