 Tips
for Breastfeeding in Public
Even though breastfeeding education has come a long way
many mums still feel uncomfortable about breastfeeding in
public due to a perception that it is unacceptable. New
mums can also feel a bit self-conscious about feeding in
front of others and it is one of the reasons the women stop
breastfeeding early... read

Skin
prick tests identify asthma risk for toddlers with eczema,
says Melbourne research
Toddlers with eczema who have a positive skin prick test
for allergy have almost triple the risk of developing asthma
than those with a negative test, says an Australian study.
The study, led by the University of Melbourne, is the first
to clearly demonstrate that skin prick tests can be used
to assess how likely it is a baby or toddler with eczema
will go on to develop asthma later in childhood... read

One Mum's Story
 Fiona
& Airlie's Story
At 27 weeks pregnant, Fiona was admitted to hospital
suffering from pre eclampsia and HELLP Syndrome which put
both her and and her baby girl in grave danger. Baby Airlie
was born via caesar weighing just 861 grams but with a strong
will to live. After weeks of living in the Neonatal ICU
taking each day's ups and downs moment by moment, finally
baby Airlie grew strong enough to go home... read

A
"Puddle Suit" for Winter Playtime
Buy or make your baby or toddler a "puddle suit"
to wear for outdoor play during winter. It is just a pair
of waterproof pants and a waterproof top which go on over
normal clothes and will keep baby nice and dry but isn't
as restrictive as a bulky coat. They are easy to make if
you like to sew or can be bought at baby shops - a great
investment that saves a lot of washing but lets baby be
free to play - win win!
Display Your Baby's Life in Pictures
Just before each of my children's birthdays I get together
a collection of photos from the past year and put them
onto a big board to display at the birthday celebrations.
If you have space it's great to keep them on display for
the whole year then put them into a special year-by-year album,
then you have the board for the next round of photos. If
you tend to keep all of your photos on the computer this
is a great way to force you to print some of the special
ones and put them into an album as a keepsake.

Now that you are a
parent/almost a parent do you worry more about violence
and crime than you did before?
Violence and crime are scary no matter
what, but since having a child or becoming pregnant have you found your protective
instincts have become stronger? Do you find yourself watching
the news and worrying about reports on acts of violence
and crime that have happened more than you did pre-baby?
Are you more concerned with personal security than you were
before you became a mum?
