Discussion Issue

Will/Did your baby sleep in a bassinette first or go straight to a cot?
Some parents prefer to have their newborn in the room with them in a bassinette so they can hear every breath. Others find that having the baby so close disturbs their sleep because they listen out for the baby too much.

Will/Did you put your baby straight in a cot or would you prefer him/her in the same room as you for the first few weeks? If you are using a bassinette, how long for? Some say bassinettes are warmer on a cold winter's night - do you agree? Are there benefits to using a bassinette?

New Parenting Tips

Corn Flour for Nappy Rash Relief
An oldie but a goodie, cornflour is great for nappy rash. Apply to a dry clean bottom and you will be amazed at how quickly it heals!

Cloth Nappies on a Budget
I am a first time mum and my little girl is now 7 weeks old and growing fast. For all of those people who want to try cloth nappies, I found the modern cloth nappies in Big W and they were under $5 each instead of the $13-$22 you will find on the internet. I line them with the Johnson and Johnson nappy liners and also the cloth pilchers from Big W and this is saving us heaps of money. She is only in the disposable nappies at night or when we go out and these have been great and will fit for quiet some time with the adjustable velcro.
