MUM ZONE MEDIA RELEASE:
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 2007
New Parenting
Website takes Things Back to Basics
Mum Zone is a new pregnancy and parenting website which takes things back to basics for mums and mums-to-be who want ways to make their day to day lives easier. Sharing answers, knowledge, experience and support is the key.
Mum of one Emma Newman knows how hard it
can be when first becoming a mum. There is so much information available
through friends, relatives, health professionals, the internet, the
media, books, etc. and who knows what's right or what's the best way
to do things? Emma began jotting down tips and before long had built up a list of ideas on ways to make life easier while pregnant
and as a mum. With a background in web development, professional
writing, publishing and editing and a husband who is a web designer,
the idea to document these ideas so that other mums could benefit came
about, thus the parenting and pregnancy website Mum Zone was "born" (pun intended!).
Towards the end of June 2007 Emma launched the site
after spending six months researching what mums
would find useful and getting together ideas and content, then developing the site design
and functionality. The response was almost immediate, and within a couple
of months Mum Zone had a subscriber base of several hundred members
which continues to grow rapidly. Each subscriber is kept up to date
with the twice-a-month newsletter full of related tips, product
reviews, articles, media releases, baby directory
listings and other useful information for mums and expectant mums. The pregnancy resources
section which was introduced recently is also gaining interest.
The philosophy of the site is for mums to share their
ideas, knowledge and experiences to help out other mums whilst finding
something of value for themselves on the site at the same time. The
site encourages mums to submit tips, product reviews, articles, baby
names, book reviews, newborn gift ideas, child care reviews, baby gear
classifieds, useful links, baby directory listings and so on to share
with others. The discussion forum is also a valuable avenue to network
with other mums and to give and receive support.
Emma recognised a real need for such a resourceful
site for mums - particularly new mums - because many families live away
from their parents so may not have as much hands on support as they
really need. Some mums are lucky enough to join a parents
group but some don't have a support network to ask simple questions
like - How do I treat my baby's nappy rash? How much should I feed my
baby? ...and so on.
Mums are staying in hospital for a lot less time
when their babies are born these days so they may not have the opportunity
to ask all of the questions they would like to. Many questions don't
arise until after they are home and they may not have anyone to ask. Mum Zone
is specifically designed to help fill that gap. Sharing answers, knowledge,
experience and support is the key.
If you or someone you know is pregnant or has a baby
or a toddler, direct them to Mum Zone - www.mumzone.com.au
- next time you see them. Even if they find one idea to turn something
that was difficult into something that is easy, it will make their day!
