What is Painstop Day-Time?

No-one likes to see a child in pain
For parents it's distressing to see their child in pain and sometimes kids need more than a kiss to make the pain go away.

It's important for parents to be equipped to provide fast, effective relief straight away. However, choosing the right medicine isn't always simple. It's important to understand how bad the pain is - is it mild, moderate or severe and then treat it accordingly.

When one medicine isn't enough
The World Health Organisation (WHO) has established clear guidelines which can help parents and pharmacists to choose the right pain medicine. The WHO recommends understanding the type of pain and then using the appropriate pain reliever to treat it.

The reasons are simple. All individual analgesics have a ‘ceiling' where giving larger doses or more frequent doses will not provide any further relief and may well cause harm.

World Health Organisation Analgesic Ladder

In these situations, as shown in the WHO Analgesic Ladder, a combination analgesic medicine, like Painstop Day-Time, can provide more effective relief.

What is Painstop Day-Time?
Painstop Day-Time Pain Reliever is a combination analgesic containing Paracetamol and Codeine. By combining both paracetamol and codeine, Painstop Day-Time can provide more effective relief when children suffer from moderate to strong pain, for example when they have broken bones or suffer from bad earache or headaches or after surgery.

Why should parents know about Painstop Day-Time

1. Painstop Day-Time is the only product on the market for children suffering moderate to strong pain and every child is going to experience this level of pain at some point.

2. Understanding pain and pain treatment equips parents to relieve their child's distressing pain.

3. By combining both paracetamol and codeine together products like Painstop Day- Time work more effectively than using either ingredient on its own. As a result the paracetamol content in Painstop Day-Time is also lower than if paracetamol was used alone.

4. Painstop Day-Time is only available without a script but only from pharmacies (for children over 12 months). This means parents can chat with their pharmacist prior to using the product. When mild sedation is considered beneficial, pharmacists may recommend Painstop Night-Time.

5. What's more, the Painstop Day-Time formulation is child friendly. It is alcohol, sugar, colourant and gluten-free and available in plastic bottles with child-resistant cap and measuring cup. Please remember that Painstop Day-Time is a registered medicine and should be used only as directed. Incorrect use could be harmful. Parents should always consult a healthcare professional if symptoms persist.
