Media Release: Babies Galore makes room for inner-west baby boomOlympic gold-medallist, mum of two and Babies Galore Ambassador Susie O'Neill will join a star line up of parenting experts to celebrate the opening of Babies Galore in Camperdown, in the heart of one of Sydney's baby booming districts. Research undertaken by Babies Galore shows that fertility rates across Camperdown and the innerwest are among the highest in Sydney, with population growth of zero to two year olds forecast to more than double Sydney's overall population growth rate. Babies Galore COO David Foster said the trend for new parents to start and raise families in areas closer to the CBD had naturally created a greater local demand for baby goods retailing. "The inner-west is showing birth rates significantly above the overall population growth rate, and we are pleased to bring to their door a one-stop-shop of quality baby goods and product advice," he said. "The new Camperdown store marks the beginning of a nation-wide Babies Galore store roll out targeting baby-booming areas and will be the first to carry the company's new fresh branding." The opening celebrations of Babies Galore Camperdown on 3 July will include a line up of special product discounts and speaking appearances from some of Australia's leading parental advocates. Among the in-store highlights will be Susie O'Neill who became Babies Galore's Ambassador in recognition of the help and support she received from the store around the births of her two children. "With so much parenting material available these days, both on the internet and in books, preparing and buying for a new born baby can be a daunting task for any expecting parents," Susie said. "I have prepared for the Olympics, and I can tell you, preparing for a new born child is just as challenging." Susie will be speaking about her experiences as a mum and Olympian at the opening between 1pm and 2pm, where she will sign copies of the Pregnancy Companion Journal, written by doctors at Sydney Ultrasound for Women, the foreword for which she wrote. Those who join Babies Galore's new Step Ahead Club at the opening will receive the book for free. Mara Lee, editor of renowned magazine Practical Parenting, will also be speaking with store guests. The first 200 visitors will receive a free copy of the magazine. Doors open 9.30am on Thursday 3 July. Babies Galore Camperdown customers will have easy ground floor access to the store at 78-96 Pyrmont Bridge Rd, adjacent to Repco. On-site and street parking is available.
