Reader's Question

I played netball before I became pregnant and also smoked. I want to play netball after the baby. What should I do, I find it hard to quit smoking and just don't know where to start? Can you help me?

Vix's Response

Ok excuse the pun but baby steps is what you need to do. You will definitely find that starting an exercise program will help you to stop smoking or at least reduce it significantly. Another option to help you reduce smoking would be some hypnosis...if you are open to alternative therapies.

In regards to getting back into shape, you will be best to train specifically towards your goal...to play netball again! So start working on your fitness by initially power walking for a few weeks and then eventually light jogging which can take you to the level of some interval training (combining short bursts of high intensity runs with longer bursts of low intensity recovery periods)...that should cover your fitness needs. You will also need to do some strength work like squats, lunges, step ups, pushups, pull ups, dips and plank to keep you strong on the court and powerful to shoot a goal!! If you need extra guidance on these types of exercises then download a copy of my eBook '10 weeks to becoming a Hot Mama' at www.mamamoves.com. You will find all the cardio and strength training programs there!! Good luck and keep your eyes on the prize.
