Readers' Questions

I played netball before I became pregnant and also smoked. I want to play netball after the baby. What should I do, I find it hard to quit smoking and just don't know where to start? Can you help me?

I've just had baby number two and have noticed a great loss in abdominal strength and toning. What exercises would be best to help with this and what should I expect in terms of recovery?

My son is now 12 months old and whilst I am overall happy with my weight I still cannot seem to shift the "love handles" I gained during pregnancy. I maintained my exercise regime whilst pregnant and currently do 2 pilates classes and exercise/walk most days, is there any exercise/s I can do to tone/minimise this area?

I have been exercising for 2 months now after having my baby 5 months ago. My question is - will the size of my bust decrease while I'm still breast feeding? I'm finding exercising harder due to this factor and finding it hard to find appropriate bras due to so much movement.

How do you get the energy to exercise when your life is so busy and consumed with looking after a baby before looking after yourself... you have the want but no energy, time or resources to succeed?

I was back to my pre baby weight within two days of having my twins as I only gained 'baby weight'. Why is it now that I have put on weight and struggling to get back to my pre pregnancy weight? I'm eating and craving foods I've never eaten a lot of and my willpower seems to have disappeared! I am usually an eggs, fruit and veg health freak!

Since having my daughter 21 months ago, I have had a multitude of injuries from exercise. It seems as though my joints have retained the laxicity from childbirth. Have you had clients with this problem and what sort of exercises would you prescribe for this problem?

I've had two children in the past 3 years (one is 2 and 1/2 and the other is one) I'm definitely not my body type before pregnancy but I'm not too overweight just a little more wobble than before. I'm wondering if you can help me with some at home exercises so lose this wobble, it's everywhere - tummy and lower back especially but arms and thighs as well.

I am about 20 weeks pregnant with my second bub and my toddler is 16 months old. During this pregnancy I've developed sometimes intense lower abdominal pain that the doctors and test have ruled as anything else except muscular skeletal. I realise that while I run around after my toddler, I probably don't have very good lower abdominal strength and would like to know what I can do at this stage of my pregnancy to try and help myself feel better and getter around more easily.

I live in regional WA where its really hot from 7am till 8pm and when it is cool baby is sleeping. Gym memberships are too costly here, what do you recommend to do to get back to being fit and healthy??

In relation to toning and re strengthening your core, is pilates or cross training more effective? And is it best to tone the stomach muscles on a swiss ball or ding things like the plank? Do pelvic floor exercises have to be done specifically on top of these exercises as well? I delivered a 10 pound 59cm bub.
