Readers' Questions

My husband and I are really keen to get a puppy and have been thinking about a cavoodle.
We have a 3 month old baby who spends a lot of time on the floor or on his rocker. Do you think that it would be realistic to bring the two up together or is there too much of a risk that the baby could get hurt due to the nature of puppies?

We have 5 huskies that are all outdoor dogs and we are planning on having a baby. How do we go about preparing the dogs for the new arrival and what boundaries should we have in place?

I have a 10 year old Kelpie cross Border Collie male who has been my one and only 'child'. He is an inside/outside dog, goes wherever I go (if possible) and has had separation issues in the past, so very protective and sooky! My baby is due in March and I would like some advice about what is best to do to get him used to the baby and the idea that is no longer number one.

My dog (Chiuaha/silky terrier) tends to keep away from my 17 month old (he is pretty scared of little kids) but recently he has started urinating on her toys and play things (outdoor mats and swings). How do I stop him from doing this?

We have a very old dog who I fear doesn't have much longer to live due to old age, however I'm not sure how to explain this to our three year old. Whilst they're not particularly close as he is an outdoor dog, I'm not sure how to explain it to her when he does pass away or if we need to put him down. I feel she is too young to be introduced to the concept of death. What do you recommend?

Our two Labradoodles have always slept inside and been allowed to go anywhere in the house, as that is what my husband wanted. I am worried about them being inside when our baby is born in February but my husband insists on them still staying inside, what can I do? And do you think it's a problem they stay inside whilst the baby is on the floor in a bouncer etc?
